Seher Shafiq is a Toronto-based civic leader, writer, and speaker with over a decade of experience at the intersection of public service, civic engagement, and responsible technology. Currently serving as the Global Engagement Manager at the Mozilla Foundation, she leads international programs focused on ethical and trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI), with an emphasis on accessibility and public interest.
Seher's career is rooted in mobilizing underrepresented communities in democratic processes. She has spearheaded national voter engagement campaigns, co-founded a civic organization for Canadian Muslims, and designed civic literacy programs for newcomers across Canada. Her commentary on elections, digital rights, and AI has been featured in CBC, TVO, CTV, CP24, Toronto Star, and Al Jazeera.
With a unique ability to bridge complex topics like AI with everyday public service realities, Seher is passionate about equipping public sector professionals with the knowledge and tools to navigate emerging technologies.
